The body has extraordinary skills when it comes to adapting to the environment. But, like anything, there's a limit to how much it can take on. When our system has difficulty removing toxins through the bowels, liver, blood or lymphatic system, it is forced to retain it. Blockages in the spine can be caused by unprocessed emotional, physical or chemical stress that gets stuck in the nervous system.
PHYSICAL:
Physical stress is often caused by strains and movement of the body. Perhaps you've slept incorrectly or bent down in an unfamiliar way. Lifting a heavy item with the back instead of the legs could cause physical pain. Ailments related to physical stress could be due to initial injury and/or regular movement that you've trained your body to do on a daily basis. Common physical stressors include:
incorrect bending, lifting twisting
poor posture
prolonged sitting/sedentary lifestyle
Injuries
CHEMICAL:
Food: processed foods, refined sugars, artificial ingredients, preservatives, pesticides, GMOs.
Water: chlorine, plastics, metal and chemicals leaching into the water supply.
Plastics: bottles and containers (especially when heated) including plastic water bottles that have been inadvertently heated in transit.
Air: cars, trucks, factories, air fragrance, recycled air
Lifestyle: smoking, prescription and non-prescription drugs
Personal care: cosmetics, skin care, hair care and perfumes
Household cleaners and garden products
EMOTIONAL:
Emotions are wide-ranging and a part of life. Emotions can be thought of as energy-in-motion. Even small amounts of emotional stress can have a big effect on our body. Predominantly, two areas cause storage: The problems begin when we either don't let ourselves feel something or when we fixate on certain emotions rather than others. In both cases, the natural flow of our emotions is disrupted, causing stress because the energy-in-motion cannot move.
Giving our emotions a voice and letting them be expressed allows the stress of withheld emotions to be released and flow again.
